Mayor Jim Newberry proclaimed
July 4th - 30th as LemonAiD Days!

The purpose of LemonAiD is to empower young people to make a difference in their community by helping homeless children residing in The Salvation Army's Comprehensive Emergency Shelter.  Proceeds from LemonAiD help support the operational expenses associated with housing children - food, lodging, diapers, clothing, childcare, and professional case management.  Thank You!
After a hard workout in the gym, nothing tastes better than a cold glass of LemonAiD.  Just ask Rachael & Nathan who set up at the YMCA on High Street.  "The stand was kind of a 'beach getaway' theme.  We had sand, colorful towels, aquarium decorations, etc.  They decorated banners and posters.  Hung balloons and gave everyone their best sales pitch.  For only having time to do this in two days, I think they did a wonderful job.  We look forward to next year!"

Too Cute!  Thirsty or not,

Enthusiasm, LemonAiD, & big smiles alone could have made this LemonAiD stand at Kroger a success, but they had a "LemonAiD-Mobile" too!  A little hard work, dedication, and a cruise in this cool ride made for a great day.

Danielle, Kaitlin, and Brooke are ready for business.  They had a great time at their LemonAiD Stand at Walmart on Nicholasville Road.  They decorated their stands with eye-catching signs and had all of the supplies (straws, napkins... and even cookies)... Bring It On!

Lauren & Drew worked hard at their stand in front of the Hartland Rd. Kroger.  Their brightly colored poster and enticement with the "Country Time Lemonade" made this stand a success.  Great work guys!

These sisters, Sydney age 3, (left) and Shelby age 7 (right), set up their LemonAiD at the Boston Rd. Kroger. "They had a wonderful time selling LemonAiD for the kids of The Salvation Army. Thank you for this great opportunity."

"Elizabeth, Jacob, Katie, & Hudson were all surprised by the amount of fun they had.  In a short period of time they sold 3 gallons of Lemonade.  Everyone was gracious and giving at the Leestown Rd. Kroger.  It was awesome for our family to help and be involved with the community."

Who could say no to that smile!  Kaliha & Terry had their LemonAiD Stand after Sunday School at Bethsaida Baptist Church.  What a great way to get your community involved.  Great Job Kaliha & Terry!

Bryce & his family worked hard to make their LemonAiD Stand an " authentic LemonAiD Experience."  The wooden stand, fresh lemons, and cool umbrella made this stand an instant success!

Caroline & Sophia are pretty in pink.  They set their LemonAiD Stand up in Hartland Park.  The bright decorations & beautiful flowers made it hard for passers-by to resist.

"Our family had a garage sale at our Lexington home on Friday and Saturday, July 17th & 18th.  Delaney  and Audrey set up the LemonAiD stand by making their own signs and using signs from the Salvation Army.  We had many generous donors who came by the garage sale, drove by and stopped, were walking their dogs and stopped by to help this great cause.  Some people even gave money without wanting any lemonade in return!  Together, Delaney and Audrey earned donations to help homeless children in the Bluegrass!"

"It is amazing how kind and giving people can be. We had cars stop by just to give a donation, and want nothing in return. Once people found out that the proceeds were going to help homeless children and the Salvation Army, most people gave even more. We were so proud of our children (Derek age 11, Alexa age 8, and Rachel age 8) for trying to sell as much as possible! They made signs to advertise, and continued to serve the Lemonade for 3 hours! They even sold cookies to add extra revenue. "

Jazmen used her artistic skills to create an informational sign to show customers.  Awesome Idea!  Combine her artistic talent, sales-woman skills, and winning smile... and you come up with a LemonAiD Stand that is hard to resist!

Lela & Wyatt set their stand up at the Southland Dr. Farmers market for the 3rd year in a row!  Did I see LemonAiD & Homemade Cookies on the sign?  Wow, you sure gave those farmers a run for their money.  What a delicious treat.  YUM!

"We started working on her stand in late June after hearing about the LemonAid campaign. Rhiannon helped with every aspect of its construction including designing, using the drill, painting and holding things while they were assembled.

Rhiannon spent two days with her stand, which we located at her grandmother’s house...  Many in the neighborhood came by and donated. It was a very positive experience, as several people shared how important the cause was and how great it was that Rhiannon was learning to lend a hand and help people in need. Rhiannon learned some valuable lessons regarding public speaking and how important it is to build relationships with your customers. She already has plans for next year’s LemonAid Days!

Mackenzie, Ashlee, & Albert's smiles are almost as wide as the smiley-balloon's.  Nice touch, your stand looks great!
"Andre and Eva had a wonderful time selling lemonade in front of their house next to the Woodland Park Pool.  They were sponsored by the Bluegrass Chapter of the Commissioned Officers Association which is part of the United States Public Health Service.  They raised over $200.00 and met lots of caring people during the their sales.  They are looking forward to doing it again next year."

Six year-old Kaylyn spent three days in the summer heat proudly shouting to cars passing by, "LemonAiD!"
"LemonAiD is a great way for us to teach our children how to reach out, help those less fortunate, and give back to our community."
